Although forming in 2008, four of the band members went through school together and have been close friends for many years. These four friends, Traygo Stewart, Ryan Wilson, John Matzen and Mitchell Anderson, started the band after finishing school., The boys played together for six months before a chance meeting with vocalist Craig Paterson who later collaborated with the guys to create this unique, powerful sound. With a front man now in the band, the music and sound of the songs started to take shape and a clear and shared message started to show within the band, this message is best shown through Craig’s lyrics and his emotions on stage, “look at us now, we are the way, we are the future”. In there short time on the music scene Miramar have reached and held the number one spot on triple j unearthed for two weeks with there hit “So Far Gone”, as well as a recent number four and five spots with the tracks “Self Destruction” and “We are the Future”. Miramar has shared the stage with some better known bands such as Grinspoon, Dead letter Circus, Butterfingers, Mammal, The Lazys and Art vs Science and has always performed to a captivated audience.
The band has come a long way in their short career and are ready to go a lot further. Miramar is one of the hardest working unsigned bands. They are forcing their way through the Australian music industry with their own sound and a thick fan base. Miramar delivers a relentless and energetic live show with strong messages poured into the lyrics by front man Craig Paterson. People remember Miramar, for their amazing live shows, unique image and songs that pull on heart strings. Miramar will play a big role in the future of Australian music and particularly in the rock, alternate genre. I urge you to see a live performance for yourself; Miramars rise is bound to surge in the coming months of 2010.
Watch out Australia, Miramar is a force to be reckoned with
