PAST EVENT

August 6th, 2010 - The Wire

Forming in late 2009 the Sydney based Alternative Rock outfit wasted no time in defining a distinguished sound and twist on the often stale elements of a typical rock quartet. The collaboration between the synchronized rhythm section of drummer Chris Blancato and bass player John Pansini, with the detailed and expressive guitar playing of Mike Davis and the rich dominant vocals of Stacey Abdilla is what initiated the birth of The Wire.
Mid 2010 saw The Wire put gigging on hold to release their self-produced debut EP, Life Again. Life Again exhibits The Wires ability to construct and perform music with an awareness of balance using a unique fusion of intense rhythmic intricacy and a dark melodic essence. The Female fronted 4 Piece bring a fresh new edge and attraction to a steadily growing genre, bringing an aggressive live show that guarantees not to disappoint.
The later Half of 2010 will see the beginning of many new endeavors on the horizon for The Wire, including an extensive gigging and touring schedule, bringing the band upon new audiences both locally and nationally.

PAST EVENT

July 23rd, 2010 - Doobias

Blacktown based Doobias is a singer/songwriter, making his mark in the acoustic soul music scene in Sydney. He is a fresh twist on previous acoustic acts, with his voice and music having a raw, simplistic sound drawing the attention of all people in the room.
Doobias is ready to make your spine tingle at venues across Sydney having recently played at The Taverners Hill-Leichhardt, Harlequin Inn-Pyrmont, Central Hotel-Blacktown and Roxbury Hotel-Glebe over 2010 with positive feedback from both audience members as well as venue staff. Doobias performs up to three 45 minute sets of cover songs with his repertoire including artists John Mayer, Lemar, Bob Marley and John Legend and one 45 minute set of original songs in which he has been said to sound like Chris Brown, Stan Walker and Jason Moran.
Doobias’ love of music comes from being surrounded by music from as far back as he can remember with both his Sister and Father singing and his Father playing Saxophone. Doobias started singing at the age of 15, playing keyboard at 14 and guitar at age 16. His influences include Stevie Wonder, John Legend, John Mayer, Common and Motown bands such as The Commodores and The Temptations.
Doobias’ biggest achievement to date is when he sang at the ACER Arena to over 10,000 people at the Bicentennial Concert. He loves to get out on the street and perform to passerbys and he feels everyone should experience the warmth music delivers. Whilst Doobias will one day reach his ultimate goal in becoming a producer he will never leave his solo career behind. He believes “The World Is Mine” and performs in such a manner that reflects this.
