Seattle sound
Seattle Sound are a NSW Covers Band who formed in 1996 after realising that they could deliver the music influenced by the grunge explosion of the 90s coming out of Seattle.Unlike the many other Cover Bands that were around at the same time, Seattle Sound are the only surviving show from that period. They have proven themselves by their “repeatedly breaking” Attendance and Bartaking records, which they STILL, 7 years on, continue to do at venues like Castle Hill Tavern, G.Ws - Penrith, not forgetting the smashing of their OWN record at The Collector Tavern- Parramatta and The Fitzroy Hotel at Windsor,Free Entry before 8pm $ 10.00 entry after 8pm
Born in Narrabri and raised in Moree in country New South Wales, Drew McAlister grew up listening to Bryan Adams, Noiseworks and Slim Dusty and started singing at age 7. One of four children, after finishing school at the age of 18, Drew decided to take his music ability seriously and left the country for the dazzling lights of Sydney. He immediately picked up session work for major brand television and radio jingles. During the next few of years, Drew continued to write his songs, performed in many different bands and appeared on “The Midday Show” and “Hey Hey It’s Saturday” numerous times. Drew then toured Australia with the production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”, before eventually landing a recording deal with EMI.
Turnpage are a four peice rock band from Sydney. Their music boasts the versatility of Goliath-like riffs and moody ballads. Mix that in with a unique melody and songwriting style and Turnpage are a band truly of their own. The band has been building a steady fan base since 2006, and is currently putting the final touches on their eagerly anticipated debut EP,The Riverbed Cinematic. followed closely by a launch night to be announced. The guys are ready to set a platform by which they will take the Indie music scene by storm this year.
What began as an invitation to “come sit in for a few songs,” has grown into a literal marriage of individual musical styles – Classic Rock with a splash of Country and R&B. On June 6, 1997, founding member, Kevin Crum, invited Tammi Smith to join him in a few songs on stage during a solo gig. The experience sealed their fates, and from that moment Kevin realized that his dream of marrying either a singer or a chiropractor could indeed come true. The Cover-Ups were born, and the beat goes on! Keith Rosenbaum, drummer and back-up vocalist for The Cover-Ups, was a great addition to the band. Kevin met Keith at Bizarre Guitar 30 years ago. (Where does the time go?) At that time, Keith was the drummer in one of the most popular bands in the Valley – The City Kids. Many years later, when The Cover-Ups were in search of a drummer and Kevin learned that Keith was available, it didn’t take long to make the all
While it is true that we live in a world of electronic noise (both musical and ambient), it would also be impossible to deny the power of the unadorned voice, acoustic guitar and harmony vocal.
Using these simple ingredients along with various percussion devices, Trudy Mackenzie and Shane Pacey have forged Mackenzie / Pacey Acoustic Music for the Soul a refreshing new sound that is bright, soulful and highly rhythmic.
Avoiding the easy path of drum machines, midi files and backing tracks, Trudy and Shane generate all the music you hear from the stage (as they believe it should be).
