A Devonshire lass now residing in London, the product of two completely different familys one blue blooded landed gentry, the other Irish Romanys she had a great live musical background growing up, at every family gathering her uncles would play for the family, she was given a 1963 Gibson Hummingbird when she was 11, classical guitar playing was her first passion, she got hooked on instrumentals and standards which stretched her fingers and gave her a great basis for her own musical creations to develop, flamenco, ragtime, country chicken pickin, rock and on to blues, roots and slide dobro which she plays on an Ozark 3515E Electro Acoustic Biscuit resonator, wood body with a lipstick pickup and a cutaway through a Fender Frontman 25R with reverb.
Mal Eastick is widely considered to be Australia’s finest musical protagonist of the blues. Playing guitar since his mid-teens, Mal has achieved a standard of playing that is, at once, both envied and admired. He has played with Robert Cray, Los Lobos, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Tommy Emmanuel, Jimmy Barnes, Joe Walsh and Kevin Borich, just to name a few. Mal’s early career was epitomized by his time with legendary band, The Stars, and his work on the Andy Durant Memorial concert and album. In the 1980s Mal played in the Jimmy Barnes Band and also formed his own touring outfit. Two albums, Southern Line and Spirit have followed. Both critically acclaimed, they are available through Mal’s own label, Bluefish Records. In 1993, after experiencing two seizures, Mal was diagnosed with an abnormal tangle of arteries and veins (known as an “AVM”) in the left temporal lobe of his brain, but it was not until 2001 that surgery became possible. After several major neurosurgeries, as well as six carpal tunnel surgeries, major rehabilitation and almost 4 years away from the stage, Mal returned to playing live.
Mal & his Band were one of the Headline acts from last years Sydney Blues Festival held in Windsor and is headlining The Broadbeach Blues Festival on the Gold Coast while on a NSW North Coast Tour and Queensland in late May
Mal has now crafted a dynamic new show which draws on some of the highlights of his 30 year career as one of Australia’s leading guitar players. He is making up for the lost years with a vengeance. Mal Eastick sure knows the blues, but his musical ascendancy and versatility make his live shows, as they ever were, the stuff of legend.
Formed in Sydney, Australia in 2004, TownHallSteps brought together five young musicians hungry for success. With a love of bands like U2, Jimmy Eat World and Foo Fighters, the boys began writing and developing music, which would eventually become the definitive sound of TownHallSteps.
The band burst onto the music scene and quickly found a following supporting local acts like Gyroscope, 28 Days & One Dollar Short. Within a year, and momentum growing, 2005 found TownHallSteps touring nationally with international acts Avril Lavigne, as well as supporting Simple Plan, All American Rejects and Sommerset in their hometown of Sydney. 2005 also saw TownHallSteps in Hong Kong to perform in a showcase alongside some of the best young acts in the world, after winning the Australian national heat of the World Battle of the Bands.
THS has released three EPs to date, after working alongside the likes of Rick Will (Foo Fighters, No Doubt incubus) and Lachlan Mitchell & Phil McKellar (Silverchair, Grinspoon, KissChasy). The break downs EP debuted at No. 17 on the AIR charts, reaching No. 10 and continuing to grow in popularity. Their film clip for the single Breakdowns (taken from the EP), was one of the Top 50 Most Requested film clips on Channel V for months and landed itself a spot in the Top 200 for 2006.
Formed in early 2008, A SECOND TO SURFACE, a three piece alternative/rock band from Lithgow N.S.W, have defined an unmistakable dynamic sound. They have already played with bands such as Karnivool Little Birdy & many more. Described as explosive melodic & powerful these boys with influences spaning the genres are definately making a lasting impression.

Back by popular demand this Sydney based Singer song writer Alisa Fedele has been spending most of her summer working on her new Ep ‘Honest’, writing with musicians in Melbourne and Sydney and currently working with her talented new 6-piece band, featuring some of Sydney’s finest jazz musicians, this year is already looking up for Alisa.
Releasing her Debut EP ‘Take off’ late last year working alongside engineer Tim Ryan who is renowned for his work on Oscar winning film Happy Feet, Lord Of The Rings, Ice Age and Baz Luhrmann’s epic, Australia, Alisa is straight back into writing bringing to the stage a fresh quirky, jazz vibe with her new works.
If you’ve experienced Alisa Fedele live, then you’ve been acquainted with the sultry, poignant and powerful vocals that pull at all the right heartstrings, and her uncanny ability to raise any roof with her remarkable musicianship. Alisa’s music effortlessly crosses over genres, interweaving trumpet and piano solos with captivating and expressive vocals. The inspirations she has drawn from artists such as Nat King Cole, Eva Cassidy, Barbra Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald, are immediately manifest.
Alisa is nearly at her final stages of recording her EP, ‘Honest which is due to be released April 2010. There is no denying that the future is bright for this incredibly talented young musician.
Sydney based singer songwriter Kate Gogarty is no stranger to an audience. As the daughter of a touring musician, Kate’s musical journey began at the young age of 14. Now, after years of delivering refined interpretations of others songs, Kate has become a strong singer songwriter sharing her original music with the waiting listener and captivating audiences with her emotive songs and stunning voice. Kate now has an ever-increasing number of fans, many who have discovered her as she has graced the stages of some of Sydney’s finest venues including The Vanguard, The Brass Monkey, The Supper Club and many others.
In 2009, Producer Sean Carey, guitarist with multi-platinum band Thirsty Merc, invited Kate to record her original tracks in his studio. Together they captured her uniquely beautiful sound which is now Kate’s first offering, the Blurry EP. These 6 tracks mark the start of a musical career that will enthral and emote. With a sound that finds its direction through Kate’s pensive hand for songwriting. A sound that echoes with Kate’s powerful voice, silky smooth but broken in the right places. This unveiling of the Blurry EP will be held at one of Australia’s premier venues, The Basement on the 24th February 2010 and should be a very special night indeed.
